Glory to You, O Lord. – The 11 disciples
went to Galilee to the mountain to which
Jesus had ordered them. When they all saw him, they
worshiped, but they’ve doubted. Then Jesus approached
and said to them, “All power in heaven and on
earth has been given to me. “Go therefore and make
disciples of all nations, “baptizing them in
the name of the Father “and of the Son and
of the Holy Spirit, “teaching them to observe all
that I have commanded you. “And behold, I am
with you always until
the end of the age.” The gospel of the Lord. – [Congregation] Praise
You, Lord Jesus Christ. – When I meet with the students who are preparing for the
sacrament of confirmation, I tell them, “You will know “if the sacrament
really took root in you “by what happens
after confirmation.” How you live your life
after you are confirmed will really give testimony to the effect of the
sacrament in your life if you open your heart and let
the spirit live within you, but it’s up to us to open
up our hearts to the Lord. So now as we come to this
feast of the Holy Trinity, we are finished with
the Easter season. We enter into the ordinary
time of the church, and we celebrate
this great feast reminding us of God as
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Total unity, total
purity, total community for our God is a trinity in one, which is a mystery that we
will not be able to comprehend until the time when we
finally go home to the Lord, and it’s all revealed to us. In the time being though,
we’re here and we remember too that we are made in the
image and likeness of God, which means we are
to live in community, we are to live in unity. We are challenged by the
very nature of God itself that God cannot be separated. The Father is not
over there creating and the Son is not
over there redeeming and the Spirit is not
over there sanctifying. They can never be separated. God is one. For us, we have to do
whatever is possible to keep that unity in
our community here. Not only in the
community of the church but the community of the
domestic church at home, the communities
of our workplaces, the community of the world. And we, as followers
of Lord Jesus, as believers in
the Holy Trinity, must be that witness
out in the world. We must be that witness
of unity, not division. We must be that witness of
unconditional love, not judging. We must be the witness of
God’s very nature itself. So as Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit is that mystery, so too we live that mystery whenever we build
up this community that God himself has given us, the community that God himself
has called us into being. So we, by nature of our baptism, we are called to
be disciples here. And Jesus said in the gospel
today, “Go therefore.” He wasn’t just
talking to the 12. He’s talking to everyone who
accepts Him as the Son of God. He says, “Go therefore and
make disciples of all nations, “baptizing them in
the name of the Father “and of the Son and
of the Holy Spirit.” The only way that we
can do that effectively is if we witness to the
true unity of the Trinity, if we witness the
unconditional love of God. That’s how people are
going to get turned on to this life of the
Trinity, to you and me. Let us continue to
live this feast day and the rest of
our lives in unity, supporting one another,
building up our faith, building up our church,
building up our community ’cause when we do that, we
give great testimony to God who is Father, Son,
and Holy Spirit. Three persons, one
God united in love, so may we be as well. (clears throat) Together we profess our faith using the Apostles’ Creed. I believe in God,
the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. – [All] And in Jesus Christ,
His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived
by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died
and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day, He
rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand
of God the Father Almighty. From there He will come to
judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. – The risen Christ has promised that He is always with us. In confidence then, let us present our
prayers and petitions. – That all who serve our
church as pastors, ministers, teachers, and counselors may,
through their selfless work, make disciples of all nations. We pray to the Lord. – [Congregation]

may restore to health and hope the sick, the suffering,
